Morjim Beach

Morjim Beach

Morjim beach is called the mini-Russia of Goa because nationals of the former USSR far outnumber other tourists who visit the place each year. Situated across from the Chapora fort, is a favourite of nature lovers and environmentalists.

At times, the beach is off-limits for even the locals as it is one of the last nesting grounds of the endangered olive ridley turtles. The best time to visit the beach is between November and March to witness the olive ridley hatchlings emerge from the nests and head out into the sea.

The neighbourhood has a number of eateries and restaurants, which serve Goan, Indian and Russian food. The Anjuna, Baga and Calangute beaches are within easy reach from here.
