On an average, approximately 70 tickets are bought by tourists to avail the Hop-on Hop-off bus services for sight-seeing tours. Besides over 20,000 tourists have availed the services over the last 11 months which is run by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
The services were launched in May 2017 with two double deck buses and two high deck buses, which cover 19 sightseeing spots in Panaji and adjoining areas. The fleet has since been raised to eight buses, with two double-decker buses and balance six are the single deck buses, which now cover 28 tourists spots along the three routes in North and South Goa.
“The response during the last season was good and we are waiting for this mini-season to be good too. We can manage around 300 tourists in a day. A person is entitled to board any of the buses as many times as he/she wants,” said an official of the Prasanna Purple Mobility Solutions Pvt Ltd who is running these buses in collaboration with GTDC.
The official informed that other than daily tickets wherein the fare is Rs 300, combo routes – North and South Goa are being offered to tourists at Rs 500 per head which is valid for two consecutive days.
He said that out of eight buses, four have a collapsible roof. During the day, these buses run on an efficient and effective A/c and during the late evenings the roof can be collapsed giving a different experience to every tourist availing the bus services.
The official refuted that sticker promotion on the buses were obstructing the very visibility of the bus tours.
“The bright red colour of the buses are intact, there is no such issue of loss of identity, he said adding that the idea is to co-promote other tourist interest activities ensuring we offer several activities and services as a ‘Value Ads’ to the tourist visiting Goa.
