Ponda: Cracking a theft case within few hours, Ponda
police on Sunday arrested three people along with six tyres worth Rs 90,000
stolen from a newly-built bus parked at Gauthan Pillem Dharbandora in an
open space and has also attached the Eicher Tempo used in the theft.
The arrested accused are identified as Elisan Picardo
(26) a resident of Opa Khandepar, Ashok Gaonkar (39) a resident of
Sacorda and Chandu Hirekurbar (29) a resident of Tisk Usgao. Police has
also identified one more accused involved in the crime as Sujay from Tisk
Usgao, who is absconding.
According to police a newly built bus with ACGL body
was parked at Gauthan Pillem Dharbandora near the Government Primary
School on Saturday by the bus driver from the same locality. The bus was to be
delivered to a Maharashtra based school on Sunday. But when the driver visited
the bus on Sunday morning, he found six tyres out of seven (including a spare
tire) missing and soon he alerted the police about it.
The police started the investigation and through CCTV
footage got a clue about the vehicle used in the crime. Based on it, the police
reached the owner of the tempo and found the vehicle along with the stolen
tyres in it. The tempo was found in the premises of the accused Ellison and
upon inquiry he revealed the names of the other accused involved in the
crime. Soon police managed to arrest the three accused out of four
involved in the theft. PSI Manguesh Volvoikar, ASI Ganapat Patil,
Hawaldar Kedar Jalmi, Mahesh Gaonkar, PC Suraj Gaude and other were part
of the team, which cracked the case.
In this matter Ponda police has registered an offense on
the four accused under Section 379 and 427 of IPC and further investigation is
in progress. ASI Ganapat Patil is investigating the case.
