Anjuna drug case: court reserves order on bail plea of Rohan Shetty


The District and Sessions Court Panaji reserved the order till August 19 on the bail application of Rohan Shetty, operator and manager of Nyex Club, who was arrested by the Anjuna police for allegedly allowing drug trade in the club premises.
The 35-year-old Shetty, a native of Borivali, Mumbai was arrested on Tuesday in connection with an ongoing probe in which an accused was arrested for possessing drugs during a raid at Nyex Club on Monday.
Counsel for Shetty claimed innocence. The police should catch the dealer from whom the accused had purchased the drugs, the counsel said adding that Shetty is not involved in this case.
The counsel said that hundreds of people come to the club, how you would check each and every person and how it can be ascertained that they are carrying drugs.
According to the police, the accused was arrested for allegedly allowing the drugs trade in the club premises.
The police, based on source information, conducted a raid at the club premises and had arrested a 21 year old tourist with drugs.
The police said that during the course of investigation, it was revealed that operator and manager of the club were aware of the drug trading activities, and reportedly allowed the accused to use his premises for drug peddling.
