PANAJI: The Congress on Friday said that the BJP-led government at the Centre as well as in the state is not serious about resolving the mining issue in Goa.
“BJP leaders are making fun of mining dependants who have lost their livelihood due to ongoing mining crisis. They have returned from Delhi without any assurance from the central government or the central BJP leadership in Delhi,” said Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar while addressing people as part of the ‘Jan Aakrosh’ agitation in Miramar.
Through the ‘Jan Akrosh’, the Congress is pressing the demand for resignation of the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and restoration of governance in Goa.
Chodankar questioned whether Parrikar is in a position to chair the cabinet meeting or sign on any document related to important policies of the government.
“Parrikar’s health status is still unknown, why BJP is keeping it a secret…if we were in their place today then BJP would have taken out a minimum of three pad yatras,” he said.
Thivim MLA Nilkanth Haldankar said that the people from different fields who have remained silent and were hesitating in speaking out against the government will soon be seen hitting the streets and protesting for restoration of governance in the state.
