Cops crack Porvorim murder within 2 hours

Porvorim police have arrested one Ramanna Baddi in connection with the alleged murder of a fellow labourer at Porvorim.
The deceased has been identified as Basappa Hanshikutti, informed the police. Both the accused and the victim are natives of Karnataka and
were residing in hutments in Pundalik Nagar, Porvorim.
The incident occurred on Sunday night and within two hours, the police managed to trace the accused, who was absconding after committing the crime, informed Porvorim police inspector Vishwesh Karpe.
Police said that the accused allegedly assaulted the victim with pickaxe on his head thereby causing serious injuries due to which the victim
died in the GMC, Bambolim while undergoing treatment.
According to the police, a sudden provocation over some petty issues reportedly under the influence of alcohol is suspected to be the reason behind the assault. The accused has been remanded to 7 days police custody, informed police.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jaspal Singh has complimented the Porvorim police team for achieving a breakthrough in the murder case within two hours after it was reported to the police.
