MARGAO: After much discussion on the issue, the villagers of Curtorim approved the construction of a rail overbridge being undertaken by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC); one end of the bridge falls within the limits of Curtorim village
Santano Rodrigues sought to know details of the railway bridge before providing the NOC since residents of Chandor are opposing the highway.
The panchayat passed a budget of Rs 1 crore for the next financial year.
There were heated discussions on the issue of house tax revision while confirming the minutes of the meeting. A member of the gram sabha pointed out that house tax revision gap should be at least for a period of five years. The panchayat body however wanted to revise the house tax with a shorter gap of three years. It was also resolved to have a village panchayat survey to know about the influx of migrants.
The panchayat proposed to have a planned Curtorim market and hence decided to put existing gaddas in an orderly manner.
The gram sabha was chaired by sarpanch Rupesh Naik. The panchayat secretary read the minutes of the last gram sabha, audit reports and the budget. The auditors in the audit reports asked the panchayat for a compliance report at the earliest on a couple of points.
Though Curtorim is an eleven member panchayat, four panchas were present for the gram sabha. The gram sabha which started at around 10.30 am ended at 1.10 pm.
