Debris handling: Bardez BDO seeks report from VPs


Following directions of director of panchayats, the block development officer of Bardez has asked all 33 panchayat secretaries of the taluka to maintain a register regarding dumped construction and demolition debris. The panchayat secretaries have also been directed to submit a month-wise report in this regard.
In the wake of High Court matter as regards dumping of debris, the director of panchayats Ajit Panchwadkar has issued a circular to all the sarpanchas and panchayat secretaries through block development officers directing them to ensure that all construction debris, which is dumped or deposited anywhere in the respective panchayat jurisdiction, shall be cleared and deposited at the designated sites. In March, the government had notified designated places for dumping of construction debris throughout the state.
Block development officer of Bardez I, Krishnakant Pangam has written to all village panchayats to follow directions concerning handling and dumping of debris.
The secretaries have also been directed to display signboards indicating clearly the site for depositing construction and demolition debris by a panchayat within its jurisdiction, if any site is identified by the
Pangam said that “we have received a circular from panchayats director as regards disposal of debris in panchayat jurisdictions and I have sent the circular to all panchayats for implementation.”
