Goa gets 50 MW additional power

Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar on Wednesday said that Goa has been allocated 50 MW additional power by the National Thermal Power Corporation which will give big relief to power consumers during peak hours.
He said the state requirement is total 577 MW power.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that sometime peak-hour requirements touch 600 MW, and if we allow free supply then the need will touch up to 650 MW.
“I had written to the Union ministry for power seeking allocation of 80 MW additional power to Goa. Now the state has been allocated 50 MW additional powers with same rate,” he added.
With the latest power allocation most of the domestic restrictions can be waived off, he stated, adding that Goa had not been allocated additional power for the last three years.
Madkaikar also said the state government has signed an agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India for wind power.
According to the agreement, Goa will receive 50-MW wind powers from the SECI by November 2018.
