MAPUSA: The gram sabha of Ucassaim-Paliem-Punola on Sunday resolved to lodge an FIR against a former sarpanch, a former deputy sarpanch, a former panch member and a former panchayat secretary over the alleged issuing of token house numbers to houses built in ‘no- development zone’.
The ordinary gram sabha was presided over by the sarpanch George D’Souza along with panchayat secretary Smita Shetye Parab. Various issues like token number to house built in no development zone, garbage, nullah and others were discussed.
Raising the issue of token numbers, a villager said, “We have filed a complaint with various authorities and a memorandum has been sent to the panchayat to take action but nothing has been done.”
Replying on issue, sarpanch George D’Souza said, “We will take a resolution in our fortnightly meeting and then file a complaint.”
Accordingly a resolution was taken to file FIR against the former sarpanch Gauravi Madgaonkar, deputy sarpanch Kanti Kanolkar, panch member Shubanand Mandrekar and then panchayat secretary Clifton Azavedo.
It may be recalled that on June 15, 2016, villagers including Rupesh Naik had raised objection to hill cutting in a no-development zone where subsequently 45 houses have been built and token number has been issued by panchayat and NOC for water and electricity. In this regard, villagers have filed a complaint with the collector, director of panchayats, block development officer and police. Then, a FIR was registered against the villagers.
During the meeting, the secretary appealed all villagers who do not have toilet facilities to fill the form and submit to panchayat for construction of toilets.
