Demanding regular water supply, the residents of Mapusa and Camurlim led by sarpanch Vishant Gaonkar gheraoed the assistant engineer of water supply department Subhash Belgaonkar on Friday.
They questioned him over the lack of water supply for the last four days.
Camurlim sarpanch Vishant Gaonkar said, “We have been put through a lot of inconvenience over the past few days as there is no water supplied to our village. Today the Housing board at Mapusa was supplied water by closing the valve catering to our village, this is not correct”.
Sanjay Barde, a Mapusa resident said, “If water supply is not restored as early as possible we will be forced to protest on the streets”.
Assistant engineer Subhash Belgaonkar said, “We are having some issues with the supply of raw water. We have changed the timings of all areas so that everyone can be given water for some time”. It may be recalled that water supply to areas such as Bicholim, Bardez and Porvorim was disrupted for two days as major cracks have developed in the Tillari canal at Kudashe near Dodamarg.
