MMC sanitises Mapusa market

In a bid to curb and control any possible spread of
Coronavirus, the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) in association with
the fire department undertook a drive to sanitise the entire municipal market
at Mapusa where disinfectants was sprayed.

Following the state government direction, MMC on Sunday
has asked all vendors and shopkeepers not to open their respective shops on
account of the drive to sanitise the entire market area.

Accordingly Mapusa
municipality along with the fire department undertook the drive to sanitise the
entire area by spraying sodium hypochlorite solution to control the spread
of Covid-19. The entire drive was undertaken under the supervision of Mapusa
Municipality officials including chairperson Ryan Braganza, chief officer Clen
Madeira, municipal engineer Hussain Muzawar, along with Mapusa fire station
in-charge Bosco Ferrao.

Commenting on the
sanitisation work, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said, “Following the state
government’s direction to undertake sanitisation drive, we had requested all
shops and vendors to keep their shops closed on Sunday. After the completion of
work at the market, we will also sanitise the Government complex, police
station. Similarly sanitisation of the Peddem Sports Complex was undertaken on
Saturday”.
