Former revenue minister Rohan Khaunte has demanded a
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the naphtha handling
episode. Khaunte said that the naphtha
is allegedly leaking from the vessel and is evident from the fish deaths taking
place.

Addressing the media, Khaunte demanded a white paper on
the issue besides the arrest of the MPT chairman for irregularities.

Khaunte said that residents of Vasco and Dona Paula are
sitting on a nuclear bomb as there is more the 6000 MT of naphtha besides
diesel and oil on the ill-fated ship.

Khaunte questioned as to
why the vessel entered the state and who is behind this episode.

“This leakage will spell doom to marine life but the
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is maintaining a silence. Even other ministers in
the cabinet are silent on the issue” he said.

Khaunte vowed to get everything out from through RTI and
urged the chief minister to answer the questions raised by him such as, why
there is a delay from customs? What is the impact on the environmental? Who is the original owner of the vessel?

While speaking on the Mhadei water dispute, Khaunte said
that the Chief Minister and the central minister Javadekar are hand-in-glove on
the issue thus giving Karnataka a tactful victory.

He said it is shocking to note that the central minister
expressed ignorance over the letter written from his office on issuing
preliminary clearance over the Khalsa Bandura water diversion project adding it
is a very serious matter.
