VASCO: The Vasco police have registered an offence against five persons for forming unlawful assembly and assaulting Ram Gopal Yadav alias Kariya of Zuarinagar Sancoale by wrongfully restraining him with their common intention.
According to police, the complainant was assaulted by five persons with a rod at 9.45 pm on September 10 in front of a restaurant based at Bogmalo beach.
He alleged that two persons have been identified as Sankalp Amonkar of Dabolim and Gilbert Mariano Victor Gonsalves of Zuarinagar, while three others are unknown.
The complainant has also alleged that the five assailants have abused him and his colleagues with filthy language. He has further mentioned that political rivalry could be a motive behind the assault.
The police in this connection have registered an offence under section 143, 147, 341, 324, 504 read with 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police sub-inspector Gaurish Parab is further investigating the case under the supervision of PI Sagar Ekoskar. The victim is presently undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim.
Meanwhile, Sankalp Amonkar has refuted the charges levelled against him by indulging in the assault case which was reported at Bogmalo.
“The charges levelled against me are totally politically motivated”, stated Amonkar and has claimed that he was innocent. He disclosed that he had gone to a restaurant at Bogmalo, but whatever happened, following an argument between the panch members was witnessed by him. “I was not part of the fight”, stated Amonkar and disclosed that he is intentionally targeted by his political rivals.
