Ponda Police on Wednesday arrested one grocery store owner and one bar owner from Curti – Ponda for keeping their establishment open and supplying material to general public despite the curfew in force.
According to Police Haveli – Curti based bar owner identified as Shivakumar Patil (45) was found supplying liquor to general public by keeping his bar styled as “Janata” open despite of curfew in force. While Grocery store owner identified as Sameer Khadar Byadgi (19) resident of Deep Nagar Curti was found supplying grocery items to general public by keeping his grocery shop open.
Both were arrested for flouting the order duly promulgated by the District Magistrate, South Goa, Margao, vide No. 37/19/2020/L&O/MAG/3169, dated 22/03/2020, thereby acted in negligent manner which can likely to spread infectious disease of Corona virus. In this matter two separate cases has been registered and both accused has been booked section 188 and 269 of IPC. Further investigation is under process.
Meanwhile Ponda Police Inspector Mohan Gaude has informed that for last 24 hours Ponda Police has detained around 36 people and their vehicles has been attached who were found roaming on roads violating curfew.
“Few people are not at all serious about the COVID 19 are risking lives of themselves as well as other” PI Mohan Gaude said and urged people to obey the curfew for their safety.
