Reappointed GTDC chief, Sopte says he is happy

Panaji: Newly re-elected Bharatiya Janata Party MLA of
Mandrem assembly constituency Dayanand Sopte has said that he is satisfied with
the chairmanship of Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) following his reappointment
as the GTDC chief by the government.

After taking over the charge of GTDC on Tuesday, in the
presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Sopte said that he is happy with the
responsibility given to him by BJP.

It may be noted that Sopte, after resigning as Congress
MLA in October last year, had said that he has been promised a ministerial
berth by the BJP central leadership in New Delhi after getting re-elected in
bypoll. However, Sopte did not get any ministerial berth after winning the
by-election.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister stated that people should
not oppose projects in the name of environment, as such projects can generate
more employment. He clarified that being a part of the government, it is also
his responsibility to conserve environment and added that the government is
doing its best.

The Chief Minister also said that the GTDC chairman will
review all the pending projects proposed by the corporation in the past.
