Vasco: A 58-year-old man, Rajan Nair from
Ratnagiri-Maharashtra, died after setting himself on fire over alleged failure
on the part of his company to pay him salary of the last three months.
As per Verna police, the deceased was working as a truck
driver for a Delhi-based company. He was in Goa and had transported consignment
of pipes at Birla-Zuarinagar.
The police said that Nair committed suicide by setting
himself on fire in an open space where he had parked his truck. Verna police
have recovered a suicide note written by the deceased which states the reason
for the extreme step as the non-payment of salary by his company. It also says
that no one else should be held responsible for his death, the police informed,
adding that, the deceased sustained 100 per cent burn injuries. Police
sub-inspector Shridhar Kamat is further investigating the case under the
supervision of PI Harish Madkaikar.
