Vasco court to record rescued minor girls’ statements today

The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco will on Tuesday record the statements of the eight schoolgirls who were rescued from two flats near the Baina beach and who were allegedly being tortured by one Venus Habib (65).
Investigating police officer Ritesh Tari revealed that the girls, aged between 11 and 12 years, will be produced before the JMFC, Vasco at around 12 noon on April 17.
Tari disclosed that the medical examination of the girls was conducted at the Sub-District
Hospital based at Chicalim which has ruled out any sexual
assault.
“We are interrogating the accused woman and even verifying the call details of her cell phone,” said
Tari.
He also revealed that the accused woman has applied for bail before the Children’s Court in Panaji and the hearing will be done on
April 17.
It may be recalled that Habib was placed under arrest by the Vasco police on Saturday late night for her involvement in torturing, assaulting and kidnapping 8 adopted girls who were studying in a reputed school in Vasco.
She was placed under arrest under sections 363, 324 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act and had been remanded to 5 days police
custody.
