Vasco youth held for theft

MARGAO: The Konkan Railway police, on Tuesday, arrested a youth from New Vaddem, Vasco for allegedly committing theft of a purse at Margao’s Konkan railway station.
The police have recovered the purse and cash.
The Konkan railway police said that the accused Wasim Taz Ahmed (30) was on the railway platform at around 3.45 pm when Goa Express arrived, and as Deu Gaude came to the platform to drop his family members, the accused stole away his purse containing cash, ATM card and other documents.
The police said that after committing theft of the purse the accused left the platform and went outside where he saw an ATM counter and removed cash of Rs 14,000 by using the ATM card, and also removed the cash, which was in the purse.
The police said that the accused got pin number which was kept written on a piece of paper in the purse, however, while he was coming out of the railway station, a police team caught him.
The accused was interrogated and taken to police station, the police said adding the entire incident of theft was captured by CCTV camera fixed at the platform.
The accused confessed to having committed the theft. He was produced before court and five days remand was taken. Offence under Section 379 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
