The crime branch sleuths, on Wednesday, raided a place in Khariwada-Vasco and seized a vehicle loaded with 10 barrels, containing 2,000 litres of furnace oil.
As per available information, the raid was conducted under the supervision of police sub-inspector Lakshi Amonkar based on specific information that some persons were involved in illegal storage of petroleum products in an open area near Khariwada in Vasco.
The crime branch sleuths swung into action and seized a vehicle, which was parked near the KTC shuttle service bus stand at Khariwada. The sleuths found 10 barrels in the vehicle, each containing 200 litres of furnace oil.
The crime branch sleuths arrested Javed Beig, a resident of Khariwada under Section 285 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The crime branch will send the samples of the furnace oil for tests and is verifying the source of it.
