Dabolim Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha under its Shakti Kendra programme felicitated four teachers from New Vaddem in order to commemorate Teacher’s Day, for their outstanding role in the field of education and also for their contribution to the society.
The four teachers Pushpa Fadte (Yoga teacher), Snehal Sanjay Mahalkar alias Shobha Madhukar Gawas (teacher at Government Primary School, Baina), Supriya Sakhalkar alias Supriya Kesarkar (teacher at Government Secondary School, Baina) and Anita Naik (tailoring teacher) were felicitated at the hands of Panchayati Raj Minister Mauvin Godinho by presenting them shawl, srifal, mementoes and flowers. Speaking on the occasion, Godinho said that women can play a major role in building the society. “Women can play a crucial role in all the fields including politics, education, healthcare, science and others. The contribution made by women in society building is immense,” he said.
Speaking further, he said that Shakti Kendra, which is a link in between booth and mandal committees in every constituency of the party, will enlighten the people on the development and other welfare schemes launched by the BJP at the Centre and the state. The function was inaugurated by lighting a traditional lamp at the hands of Godinho.
The function was held at Govind Sakhalkar’s residence at New Vaddem and was attended by councillors Gaurish Mardolkar, Rajan Faldessai, Yatin Kamurlekar, Dabolim BJP Mahila Mandal president Anita Thorat, Sanjay Naik, social worker Brahma Pawar and Sudesh Bhosle, Sarika alias Reshma Naik, Ajay Thorat, Akshata Zemne, Maya Parab, Malvika Korgaonkar, former councillor Maya Naik and others.
